Our 2nd Open House
The Open House went very well and beyond expectations. We had about 112 parents attend the Open House. We had elders, community leaders and a police officer from the neighborhood come and address the families. We had our authorizer; (The Guild)’s board chair, Lynn Nordgren and one of The Guild’s advisors, Glory Kibbel attend as well. The school’s curriculum consultant, Rod Haenke attended too. In addition to that, Joe Thompson; STEM teacher from Urban Academy presented what it is like to learn STEM education. Likewise, the school’s finance provider talked to the parents and told them that they are here to become partners with the school and the school is going to be in good hands financially. We had 4 catering companies, Done Right Foods, Kilimanjaro Restaurant, Ali’s Catering and food distribution, and Twin Cities Catering Restaurant attend the open house. Each one of the catering companies had sample foods for breakfast and lunch. Parents had the opportunity to test them. Survey was passed to evaluate which catering company parents liked better and the school should take.
Before the open house, the enrollment list was at 90 students. After the open house, the director shared with the board of directors that the registration is about 150 students. Many parents have taken the application and said that they will fill out the application and bring them back.
